Position Summary

FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Sales Manager, Northern Alberta, the Customer Services Representative is required to deal directly with the public, is responsible for all cash received over the counter and performs clerical functions involved in the support of the Grande Prairie Group Sales Office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides prompt and professional customer service in office and on the phone. Responds to counter inquiries concerning products, benefits, claim procedures and problems, and group leads.  
  • Accepts and reviews claim forms for completeness, documents and submits to head office for processing.  Assists with completion of claim forms if necessary. 
  • Assists clients with purchasing Travel Plans through our direct line.  Taking payments and ensuring clients have travel plan documents.
  • Accepts premium payments and balances daily cash to receipts for monies accepted over the counter and through the mail.  Prepares daily cash reports for the accounting department.
  • Makes daily cash deposit and ensures adequate change (float) is available.
  • Sorts, open and distributes incoming mail and courier, sends daily courier.  Prepares, meters and post outgoing mail. Assists with mail-outs as required.
  • Orders office supplies. 
  • Participates in sales meetings if necessary.
  • Other duties as required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Must be detail orientated and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical ability, with a commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
  • Must have excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of Alberta Blue Cross benefit plans, policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to deal effectively with the public, peers, superiors and co-workers.
