FUNCTION:

Alberta Blue Cross has an immediate opening for an imaginative, enthusiastic and resourceful Provider Services Team Lead to join our Health Services department. The ideal candidate will be a strong conceptual thinker who not only executes assigned tasks but contributes to the overall creative process.

The overall responsibility in this position is to provide exceptional service to internal and external customers using exemplary interpersonal skills, and strong problem-solving abilities. The primary role of this position is the development of strong business relationships with the health provider community both inside and outside the province of Alberta. You will also be responsible for coordinating call center staff in their handling of provider inquiries. This position reports to the Team Manager of Provider Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Engage the health provider community to develop meaningful, lasting business relationships.
  • Research out-of-the-box concepts and be open to providing and receiving feedback.
  • Involved in projects that involve creating engaging content, delivering high impact presentations, developing communication and training material to support provider relations function.
  • Provide support and assistance to the team in the handling of duties and inquiries.
  • Work independently and as part of the team to encourage a positive environment.
  • Sharing ideas from the brainstorming stage through to implementation and are able to clearly articulate your creative process and communicate the logic.
  • Research and compile information from various sources to identify gaps in provider engagement and connectivity and identify plans to improve results.
  • Report, in documented form, the success rate of several strategies employed to develop and grow provider registration.  This will include the creation, tracking and maintaining out of province provider data.
  • Ensure turnaround standards are met through effective utilization of both resources and systems.
  • Keep staff informed on changes or updates in procedures and policies, manage complex issues/files and maintains business process documentation.
  • Make suggestions to improve workflows, processes and strategies, where applicable.
  • Other duties as required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of Alberta Blue Cross health plan designs and provider scope of practice across a variety of health professions is an asset.
  • Ability to be innovative and demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, results orientation and dedication to continuous improvement.
  • Requires excellent decision making skills. 
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Strength in the areas of flexibility and self motivation
  • Computer literacy and experience with a variety of software programs, such as Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully support clients and key stakeholders over the phone.
  • Willingness to work scheduled shifts within business hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and to work extra hours and overtime hours as needed.
