Position Summary

FUNCTION: 

Reporting to the Director of Analytics, Research & Pricing, the Reporting Analyst will be primarily responsible for collaborating and providing support to Analytics, Research & Pricing, ensuring effective data and information management (collection, analysis and reporting). The position is accountable for processing information requests, compiling statistical information, investigating and solving data integrity issues, preparing reports and analyzing trend information.  This role is also critical in the support of Product Management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Responsible for data research and analytics in support of marketing, pricing, risk selection, and other operational areas of group and individual health, dental, life and disability insurance products.
  • Assist in the continuous monitoring of product performance.
  • Work closely with data architects to identify, extract, manipulate and clean appropriate data to be used in predictive analytics initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand and scope the problem.
  • Gather business requirements and project manage tasks and timelines.
  • Create excellent working relationships with business, IT and analytics peer group.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: 

  • An undergraduate degree/Diploma or certification in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or equivalent field.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with Access, VBA, and advanced Excel macros is required.
  • Above average skills in database querying and reporting. Skilled in taking raw data from multiple sources and producing accurate and meaningful reports to support/inform decision-making.
  • A working knowledge of database management functions, various reporting systems and techniques is required.
  • Skilled in using database software (Access, SQL, Oracle or other server database platform).
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of data management applications such as SAS or SQL, data visualization tools such as Microstrategy and Tableau.
  • Must have a high degree of critical thinking, to select the most appropriate input data, modeling method, indicated variables, and techniques.
