Position Summary

FUNCTION:

Under direction of the Manager, this position is responsible for the operations of infrastructure and services assigned to Enterprise Server & Storage team’s portfolio.  Team Manager is responsible to maintain a supportive environment, and a healthy engaged team.

The Enterprise Server & Storage team is responsible for the support, configuration, and management of the following technologies: Server and storage infrastructures including Windows, Linux, HPUX, and VMware operating systems;  DELL EMC backup systems and infrastructure (Networker, Data Domain);DELL EMC Xtreme IO/VPLEX/Unity storage systems; Messaging systems such as Exchange, Skype, and Rightfax.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide day-to-day operational management in the development, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of storage and sever infrastructures.
  • Assume appropriate project management roles keeping with the corporate project management methodology.
  • Provide guidance required for implementing technical solutions.
  • Retain a high quality staff by employing effective strategies in recruiting, training, mentoring, and coaching team members.
  • Successfully manage staff performance.
  • Coordinate resources and expertise required by project from other teams.
  • Create a positive working environment within the team.
  • Encourage and enforce quality control and documentation standards.
  • Encourage and enforce compliance to existing processes such as time tracking, Change management, and more.
  • Provide high-level technical expertise to internal and external clients, and team members.
  • Keep abreast with technologies for which this team is responsible for.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, peers, management team, and vendors.
  • Recommend technical solutions and designs to meet business requirements to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Participate in an on call 24/7 rotation for escalation management (approximately every six weeks).

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: 

  • A related two-year technical diploma or degree from a recognized post secondary institute is required.
  • A minimum of three years of direct leadership experience in the IT industry (managing teams including H.R. responsibilities).
  • A minimum three years of direct or related experience with:
    • DELLEMC storage & backup infrastructure;
    • Red Hat Linux and VMware environments;
    • Microsoft infrastructure technologies (AD, Exchange, Skype);
    • Server infrastructure such as blade and hyperconverged platforms;
    • Infrastructure automation (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, PowerShell);
    • Demonstrated strengths in planning, organizing, and delegating.
    • Proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Strong presentation skills:  must be able to present technical material to various audiences including Directors, Executive, management, peers, and technical application architects.
    • Commitment to customer support is critical.
