Position Summary

FUNCTION:

Under direction of the Application Manager, the Team Manager is responsible for sustaining a supportive environment, which enables staff to develop, implement and maintain business applications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide day-to-day operational management in the development, implementation and maintenance of business applications, which meet business requirements.
  • Lead projects within and across applications in keeping with the corporate project management methodology.
  • Provide support required by our staff and clients in designing, building and maintaining applications.
  • Recruit, train, mentor and coach team members, under the direction of the manager, to retain a work force of the highest quality.
  • Allocate staff to enhancement requests and, in consultation with the manager, to projects.
  • Mentor and coach individuals within the team to grow and develop in ways that address both business and individual needs.
  • Create a positive working environment within the team.
  • Manage the daily operations and oversee projects.
  • Ensure adherence to the Systems Development Life Cycle.
  • Introduce and enforce quality control standards.
  • Provide application expertise to internal clients, external clients and team members.
  • Lead quality assurance reviews of design, code and performance with the application.
  • Maintain up to date application and business knowledge.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers and peers.
  • Understand how a specific system functions as well as the interdependencies with other systems.
  • Approve/recommend design solutions for business requirements.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • A related two-year technical diploma from a recognized post secondary institute is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an Oracle environment.
  • Experience in providing leadership to teams of Systems Analysts who provide both technical and analytical services to internal clients.
  • A superior proficiency level in all components of the System Development Life Cycle.
  • Demonstrated strength in planning, organizing and delegating. 
  • Proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with strong skills in verbal and written communication. 
  • Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated commitment to customer support are critical.
