Position Summary


We currently have an opening for a Financial Reporting Specialist in our Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Department. The primary responsibility of this position will be to provide analytical, business and technical support for the software, tools & models used for budgeting, forecasting and costing within the organization. This position reports directly to the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis.


  • Develop, maintain, communicate, analyze and report on budget, forecast & costing as required.
  • Develop & maintain the tools/models, reports and financial procedures used by FP&A.
  • Proactively work with business areas to understand and interpret budget, forecast, costing results and monthly financial information.
  • Assist with implementation of software upgrades, identify possible system improvements¬† and tap into any unutilized system functionality.
  • Respond to and prioritize requests from business areas.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the overall mandate and objectives of the Finance Department.


  • The successful candidate for this position will have 4 years experience in budgeting and forecasting in a similar size organization including:
    • Experience with software implementation, tool/model upgrades & maintenance and familiarity with validating and testing financial or costing model outputs.
    • Developing, designing and analyzing reports.
    • Creating forecasts, projections and ROI statements.
  • Background in computing science education would be preferred.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA/CA, CMA, CGA) or background in computing science education would be considered an asset.
  • Experience in advising and supporting executive and non-financial managers with an ability to explain financial details and concepts in lay terms.
  • Effective verbal & written communication skills including writing and maintaining documentation for detailed technical processes as well as high level end user guides.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Significant knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to form collaborative relationships with a wide range of senior level talent and act as an intermediary, if needed.
  • Knowledge and experience with costing and Corporate Performance Management tools such as Prophix.
