Position Summary

FUNCTION: 

The Government Services Department has an opening for a team player with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, have critical thinking and creative problem solving skills to support the development and implementation of new government initiatives, to ensure that Alberta Blue Cross is providing consistently high service levels and meeting our business objectives for our government clients.

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, the Government Account Representative will be responsible for working in partnership with our government clients to identify ongoing needs and requirements. The Government Account Representative will liaise with a broad cross-section of departments within Alberta Blue Cross. It is important to understand current and future capabilities to support the development and implementation of new government initiatives. They will also be responsible for reviewing service levels internally, in addition to ensuring we are meeting our business objectives.   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support government projects and initiatives including new programs, services, process improvements and customer requests.
  • Coordinate, organize and attend work groups/project team meetings as required.
  • Act as an expert resource to internal and external clients.
  • Research, prepare and/or deliver presentations, proposals and/or reports.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: 

  • An undergraduate degree in business or a health related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work successfully in a strong team environment.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to take an analytical approach to problem solving. 
  • Strong negotiation and proven decision making skills. 
  • Project management training or a willingness to participate in project management training.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing projects involving multiple stakeholders –internal and external including demonstrated experience with the drafting and maintenance of project plans.
  • Proven experience with the assessment of complex issues and implementation of root cause solutions.
  • Proven experience with development and delivery of presentations. 
  • Proven ability to multitask supported by strong prioritization skills.
  •  Ability to deal with a fast pace environment that requires successful management of customer expectations.  
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Industry experience would be a valuable asset.
