Position Summary

FUNCTION:

Alberta Blue Cross has an opening for a permanent full-time Internal Auditor in our Internal Audit Department. This position will be responsible for ensuring corporate objectives are achieved through the effective delivery of all aspects of internal auditing.  This position reports to the Operations Team Manager of Internal Audit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts/Participates in ongoing audits of operational policies and procedures.
  • Ensures internal control by verifying the effectiveness and efficiency of Alberta Blue Cross operations to address significant risks, including privacy and security.
  • Evaluates testing of new systems and verifies modifications to existing systems to ensure proper internal controls are present.
  • Investigates and analyzes requests from both internal and external customers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Post-secondary degree in business, management or equivalent training.
  • Completion of or enrolment in a recognized discipline or professional program in accounting, auditing, fraud, or information technology (such as CIA, CFE or CISA) is desirable.
  • Two to five years of audit or related experience is desirable.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Basic database system knowledge including knowledge of Microsoft Access, TeamMate or other query tools (such as ACL) is an asset.
  • General information technology knowledge would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated strength in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and investigative skills.
  • A proven track record of being a team player.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to make decisions and provide recommendations based on audit findings.
  • Familiarity with Alberta Blue Cross or the healthcare industry would be an asset.
