Position Summary

FUNCTION:

Alberta Blue Cross has a permanent full-time opening in our Internal Audit Department.  The Internal Auditor will be responsible for ensuring corporate objectives are achieved through the effective delivery of all aspects of Internal Auditing, including both information systems and operational audits.  This position reports to the IT Team Manager of Internal Audit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts ongoing audits of information systems and operational business processes and practices to ensure effective and efficient internal controls exist to address significant risks, including privacy and security.
  • Reviews and evaluates technology controls for production systems, infrastructure and new information technology initiatives to ensure they adequately and effectively address significant risks. 
  • Participates in the development and support of computer assisted audit techniques and automation tools used to assist auditors with exception reporting and trend analysis.
  • Investigates and analyzes requests from both internal and external customers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Post secondary degree in computer science, information systems or IT related training.
  • Completion of a recognized discipline or professional program in information technology or auditing (such as CISA, CISM, CISSP, CIA or CPA).
  • Five to seven years of audit experience with a minimum three years focused on IT.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access or other query tools (such as ACL or SQL). Familiarity with TeamMate would be an asset.
  • Applied general knowledge and/or experience of databases and information technology, including but not limited to system development methodologies for both in house and commercial off the shelf solutions.
  • Practical knowledge and/or experience in Oracle, Java, Mobile, Identity Management, Content Management, and Secure Messaging.
  • Demonstrated strength in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and investigative skills.
  • A proven track record of being a team player.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Applied project management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a commitment to accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be able to make decisions and provide recommendations based on audit findings.
  • Knowledge or experience with common audit frameworks such as COSO, COBIT, ISO, or ITIL, is desirable.
  • Experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst or Project Manager would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with Alberta Blue Cross or the healthcare industry would be an asset.
