Position Summary


The Web Administration team plays a key role in the delivery of IT services at Alberta Blue Cross.  This dynamic team is responsible for the delivery of stable and secure Application and Web Server environments used to host a wide array of applications.  Alberta Blue Cross has a strong web presence, developing many of our applications in-house.  The Web Administration team is instrumental in providing a solid middle tier web infrastructure upon which these web applications can thrive to support the company’s objectives.

The Team Manager of Web Administration, under the supervision of the Manager of Web Administration, will be responsible to sustain a supportive team-focused environment, which enables staff to develop and maintain sound operational practices. 


  • Provide day-to-day operational management overseeing the installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of web and application server infrastructure.
  • Lead and participate in projects within and across the IT division following the corporate project management methodology.
  • Provide guidance required by staff and customers in implementing stable technical solutions.
  • Recruit, train, mentor and coach team members in partnership with the Manager of the team, with an end goal of retaining a work force of the highest quality for both the team and the company.
  • Allocate team resources and expertise required by both operational- and project-based initiatives.
  • Demonstrate commitment to performance management and staff development through annual performance reviews, career development and training plans for team members.
  • Create a positive working environment for the team, which inspires high productivity and cohesive team work.
  • Encourage and enforce quality control for all standard operating procedures used by the team.
  • Encourage and enforce compliance to existing department-level processes such as time tracking and change management.
  • Manage the delivery of effective resolutions when concerns or performance issues arise from within the team, business and support areas, or external clients.
  • Keep abreast with technologies for which this team is responsible for.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, peers, and vendors.
  • Participate in an on call 24/7 rotation for escalation management (approximately every six weeks).


  • A related two-year technical diploma or degree from a recognized post secondary institute is required.
  • A minimum of three years of direct leadership experience managing technical teams in the IT industry is required, including HR responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with web application server environments is recommended.
  • Demonstrated strengths in planning, organizing, and delegating.
  • Proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities (e.g. vision and innovation).
  • Highly adaptable to operate in a rapidly changing environment.
  • A high degree of self-awareness and understanding of impact on people.
  • Decision-making confidence.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills, being able to present technical material to various levels of audiences within the organization.
