FUNCTION:

Alberta Blue Cross has an immediate opening for an enthusiastic, team-oriented, results-driven Team Manager for Group Billing reporting to the Manager of Group Enrolment and Billing. The ideal candidate is a natural collaborator with a great attitude, work ethic and ability to see things from a customer’s perspective and experience; specifically the customer of the external Billing Administrator or Owner.  The successful candidate must have proven leadership capacity, exemplary interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving skills, effective research and analytical approaches, and a strong commitment to exceptional client services.

Working within a team environment, the Team Manager is responsible for managing the people and the processes to deliver exceptional service to our customers – both internal and external.  This position oversees the billing and payments of our group clients.  The Team Manager will also serve as a liaison between Accounts Receivable and representatives from other areas and will work directly with both the Manager and the Senior Manager to provide the stewardship for the team’s employees through the process of preparing for and adopting a new administration system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides the day-to-day operational management and provides direction and support to the Group Billing team, ensuring the effective utilization of both staff and systems.
  • Create a positive working environment within the team.
  • Continuously identifies enhancements to systems and work with Business Analysts to document, prioritize, and implement those enhancements.
  • Under the direction of the Manager, work closely with project teams to identify and manage the impact of system changes on business processes and staffing levels.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers and peers.
  • Coordinates the workload with team members to meet the needs and expectations of our internal and external customers within our standard turnaround.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled performance reviews, providing feedback and facilitating professional growth. Ensures continuous communication with employees by sharing any changes to service directives, policies, procedures, or contract provisions.
  • Communicate effectively to provide direction and instruction to fellow team members and internal departments while ensuring the needs and expectations of all our customers, internal and external are met.
  • Represents Group Billing in various working groups and projects.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • A post secondary degree, diploma or prior experience, specifically with Commerce or Accounting would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of five years experience in a corporate customer-centric environment.
  • Previous insurance industry background would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and change management experience.
  • Proven leadership skills including coaching, mentoring, relationship building and performance management.
  • Previous insurance industry background would be considered an  asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with strong skills in verbal and written communication.
  • Detail-oriented, organized and resourceful.
  • Proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, prioritize and manage multiple tasks, projects and deadlines all without jeopardizing quality.
  • Self-motivated and flexible.
  • Attitude and approach of continuous improvement.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong networking and relationship skills with demonstrated client management skills.
