FUNCTION:

Under direction of the Director, the IT Staff Coordinator uses their combination of technical expertise and leadership abilities to coordinate and drive talent acquisition and activities across our entire Information Technology team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate IT resource planning initiatives, ensuring the IT resourcing plan is aligned with future business needs and technical architectural direction.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, draft technical job descriptions based on requirements from IT Hiring Managers.
  • Involvement with technical screening and interviewing to select suitable candidates for further consideration in the IT hiring process.
  • Develop and maintain repeatable techniques to accurately determine the technical abilities of incoming candidates.
  • Build and maintain the processes and data required to proactively identify suitable internal candidates for existing and upcoming IT vacancies.
  • In collaboration with Learning & Development and Human Resources, coordinate training and development activities across IT to ensure team skills are aligned with current and future needs.
  • Increase the profile of the Alberta Blue Cross IT team by serving as a key technical representative at relevant technical industry events, and coordinating attendance by other team members as required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Degree or diploma in computer science or a related program, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience in technology-related roles; hands-on software development experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in interviewing and hiring technical resources is an asset.
  • Demonstrated strength in planning, organizing, and coordinating.
  • Proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with strong skills in verbal and written communication.
  • Proven ability to develop and build effective working relationships.
