Reporting to the Manager of Wellness, Alberta Blue Cross is seeking a Wellness Analyst to support the development and evaluation of our wellness initiatives and solutions. This position will be part of the wellness team whose purpose will be to advance the impact that data and analytics will have on the business as well as support and foster a data driven culture demonstrating the value and return on investment for our unique wellness initiatives. 

As a Wellness Analyst, you will play a critical role in the collection, refinement and storying of the outcomes outlined in our wellness strategy. You will partner with internal and external stakeholders to assemble, review and showcase wellness data and analytics across our business units and to our customers.   • Perform regular environmental scans for wellness solutions in the marketplace and compare to Alberta Blue Cross Wellness solutions.
  • Prepare regular dashboard reporting on Wellness metrics to determine status of outcomes outlined in the wellness strategy.
  • Participate on governance committees where applicable and act as a subject matter expert through research, project or product development lifecycles for data and analytics.
  • Manage and update all reporting functions across our wellness pillars and make recommendations to highlight gaps or enhance potential growth.
  • Download and provide comprehensive and or customized analysis of reports for our customers and internal stakeholders as requested.
  • Provide comprehensive analysis of available data and metrics, with trending and future forecasting based on customer’s requests.
  • Work with other internal stakeholders such as research and development, legal, risk and privacy to enhance our ability to track and manage data effectively.
  • Maintain procedures and business process documentation and provide reporting for internal audits when applicable.
  • Ensure data integrity through quality assurance and proactively validating data. Share this data both verbally, in writing and through presentations as suitable for all audiences.
  • Assist the wellness team as needed within area’s internal, customer and community wellness initiatives.


  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in business or a related field, or directly related experience, is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of working with quantitative and qualitative analysis experience, including handling, manipulating and analyzing data and creating visual reports.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of research methodology, data analysis, database reporting and project management.
  • Ability to manage and migrate multiple data sources to compile reporting as required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner are required.
  • Must possess strong problem solving, organizational skills, time management and the ability to multitask.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, particularly data management applications like SAS, SQL, MS Excel, Access and VBA skills as well as Visio, SharePoint and reporting software would be considered an asset.
  • Previous knowledge or experience with human resources metrics, as they relate to wellness: absenteeism, engagement, disability claims, health/wellness spending accounts and drug plan utilization would be considered an asset.
  • Experience working with internal, or external sensitive data.
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required.
