FUNCTION:

Alberta Blue Cross has an immediate opening for an imaginative, enthusiastic, team-oriented Design Manager to join our marketing team. You’ll lead a team of designers to create and deliver top notch print and digital marketing materials. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with a great attitude, work ethic and understands that the customer is at the centre of everything that we do. We’re looking for someone who knows the value and importance of brand consistency and experience, but can still push the boundaries within that world.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish the overall art direction for projects and lead a team of designers to create high-quality work.
  • Collaborate with internal teams in brainstorming, strategy development and final creative execution.
  • Distribute and prioritize work to ensure that project timelines are met and deliverables exceed expectations.
  • Review and approve all work that leaves the department to ensure quality and consistency, while meeting the requirements of the creative brief.
  • Identify tools and resources to improve efficiency.
  • Provide rationale for creative decisions.
  • Instill a culture of collaboration, fun and exceptional work

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in graphic design, visual communications or a related field.
  • Minimum of five to 10 years of senior level graphic design experience (agency experience considered an asset).
  • Five or more years of experience effectively leading and guiding the work of a design team.
  • A strong portfolio that shows a variety of work including digital and print materials.
  • Extensive understanding of branding
  • Ability to think creatively and create visual strategies to meet project goals.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Advanced understanding of typography, photography, design layout and print processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) in a PC environment.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to easily build and foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
