Position Summary

FUNCTION:

Infrastructure & Operations plays a key role in the delivery of IT services at Alberta Blue Cross. Under direction of the Director, the Manager is responsible for an internal customer facing portfolio of IT services and to lead Team Managers and their teams in the successful delivery of the services.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accountable for the end to end operational management of portfolio services.
  • Responsible for multi-year strategic/operational plans to support projects and operational initiatives.
  • Responsible for portfolio budget, variance tracking, and forecasting.
  • Responsible to recruit and mentor team members into a positive environment in partnership with the Team Manager, the goal of building and retaining innovative and engaged high performance teams.
  • Responsible for the performance, availability, capacity, change, and major incident management of mission critical services in a 24x7 operational environment.
  • Participates in on-call rotation for major incidents and co-chair of CAB.
  • Lead projects within, and across, service portfolios in alignment with the corporate Project Management methodology.
  • Build and maintain effective customer and vendor relationships by understanding related business strategies and operational goals.
  • Communicate effectively with various levels of management and executive and provide exceptional customer service to all stakeholders.

 SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Degree or diploma in computer science or a related program.
  • 5+ years of direct leadership experience managing Project Managers and/or Team Managers overseeing infrastructure related project and operations.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large cross-functional projects, enterprise-level technology rollouts, and operational initiatives.
  • Demonstrated strengths in budgeting, planning, organizing, and delegating.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including superior critical thinking skills with decision-making confidence.
  • Ability to deal with stressful situations and conflicting priorities professionally.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills coupled with strong verbal and written communication and demonstrated commitment to customer support.
  • Strong presentation skills including ability to present technical material to audiences with varying degrees of technical competence.
  • Formal training and experience in ITIL/ITSM including process design, implementation, and continuous improvement is an asset.
