FUNCTION:

The Manager of Community Wellness and Innovation reports to the Director of Wellness.  This position is responsible for extending our reach into communities to help us achieve true lifelong relationships empowering communities to prevent modifiable disease through our unique wellness solutions. Through innovative thinking, creative problem solving and strategic collaborations, the community manager will be responsible for exploring unique opportunities and address gaps in existing programs and services to protect and promote wellness in our communities.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for executing the actions outlined in the “community” pillar of the Wellness Strategy and providing overall support and ensuring strategic alignment with the larger Corporate Wellness Strategy serving our people, customers and communities.
  • Working collaboratively across all business units to ensure our wellness initiatives align with corporate-wide projects and strategies to promote a shared vision of wellness for all Albertans.
  • Provide information necessary for project status updates, risk, privacy, contract management and budget reporting related to activities required to implement the Wellness Strategy. 
  • Support the ongoing development of existing and future relationships with external partners to create and deliver new innovative wellness solutions. 
  • Support and or develop internal and external communications including briefing notes, presentations and reports in collaboration with marketing, communications and corporate relations teams or other business units.
  • Liaise with corporate clients or external partners to implement Alberta Blue Cross wellness solutions in their organizations or communities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Wellness team to support excellence in internal and external wellness solutions modeling and supporting behaviors for healthy workplace culture.
  • Supervise and mentor wellness experts, analysts, community leads in their tasks and responsibilities.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • A Degree in a related field (Health Promotion, Recreation or Social Sciences).  Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum eight years of experience in developing and implementing health and wellness strategies/programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the health care industry and government.
  • Practical experience in strategy, policy development, leadership, project and program management.
  • Creative thinker, excellent listener and strong presenter.
  • Ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities and deliver effective strategies to generate results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with strong verbal and written communication.
  • Proven management and leadership skills including coaching, mentoring, relationship building, performance management, and continuous learning support.
  • Exceptional problem solving and conflict resolution skills that can be applied to both individuals and groups.
  • Expert planning, organizational, analytical and consultation skills are required.
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple complex projects within required timelines and expectations required.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively across and develop positive working relationships.
