Position Summary

FUNCTION:

Alberta Blue Cross has an opportunity for a Senior Security Administration Analyst.  You will be joining a team responsible for the planning, implementation, management, and monitoring of enterprise security technologies for the protection of critical infrastructure and data assets.  While providing cyber security threat protection, prevention, and remediation using best practices, the Security Administration team supports the implementation of new business solutions while advocating for and enforcing IT security policies and standards.  The ideal candidate has strong technical abilities with a solid foundation of network fundamentals, strong communication skills, and a desire to work in a dedicated IT security role.  This position reports to the Team Manager of IT Networks and Telecommunications in the IT Infrastructure and Operations department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a senior level resource and provide technical expertise, planning and direction related to security infrastructure and provide guidance and mentorship to the technical team.
  • Maintain a highly stable, resilient, and reliable security infrastructure environment with a continuous improvement methodology, coordinating with other infrastructure teams and vendor partnerships.
  • Provide leadership in the planning and delivery of technology solutions including hardware evergreening as well as patch management strategies and cycles.
  • Participate in investigations and possible breaches following defined procedures, including malware analysis, endpoint forensics, and threat analytics.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues supporting critical systems and applications.  Engage vendors as required to expedite resolutions.
  • Act as a security administration team advocate and representative for new and existing departmental and corporate projects, documenting and effectively communicating solutions that meet business and technical requirements that follow security best practices.
  • Enforce corporate IT security policies, standards, and guidelines, working very closely with the team responsible for corporate IT security governance and participating in compliance and audit processes as required.
  • Collaborate with the network team to ensure effective network security, zoning, secure application delivery, and wired & wireless network access control.
  • Provide certificate management for internal public key infrastructure as well as managing external certificate authority providers.
  • Administer secure remote access, multi-factor authentication, corporate web filtering policies, firewall rule sets, endpoint anti-malware and anti-virus, as well as a security operations platform that encompasses various functions including network threat detection and email security.
  • Maintain all security infrastructure, applying software and firmware updates, remediate vulnerabilities, and respond to alerts or events as appropriate.
  • Develop standard operating procedures, security baselines, network diagrams and other documentation as required.
  • Resolve work orders for security related incidents and service requests.
  • Participate in a rotational 24x7 on-call production support cycle.
  • The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete a personnel security screening.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • A diploma or degree in a related technical discipline from a recognized institute.
  • 5 years of experience in a medium-large enterprise IT environment is required, preferably with a focus on security.  Leadership experience and relevant industry certifications are an asset.
  • 3 years of experience with enterprise networks is required.
  • Demonstrated project leadership expertise would be highly beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability using command line tools, scripting languages, search and query functions as well as using centralized administrative and provisioning platforms.
  • Security industry knowledge and interest with a passion to continue to learn and grow while being adaptable.
  • Detail oriented with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to gather requirements and find innovative and effective solutions.
  • Effective planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, capable of effectively communicating to internal and external stakeholders and documenting technical content.
  • A positive attitude and a desire to build strong effective working relationships in a collaborative team environment.
  • Highly accountable, ethical, dependable and responsible.
