The Wellness Partnerships and Innovation Specialist reports to the Manager of Wellness Partnerships and Innovation. This position is responsible for extending our reach into communities to help us achieve true lifelong relationships empowering communities to prevent modifiable disease through our unique wellness solutions. Through innovative thinking, creative problem solving and strategic collaborations, the Wellness Partnerships and Innovation Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and implementing unique opportunities and address gaps in existing programs and services to protect and promote wellness in our communities.  


  • Execute the initiatives outlined in the community pillar of the Wellness Strategy.
  • Provide project status updates, project monitoring, acting as a subject matter expert and a key stakeholder in program development.
  • Monitor and update documents necessary for projects including: stakeholder and risk analysis, privacy impacts, contract management and budget reporting.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to create and deliver new innovative wellness solutions.
  • Coordinate partnership, presentation and resource requests from community organizations.
  • Support and/or develop internal and external communications including briefing notes, presentations and reports in collaboration with marketing, communications and corporate relations teams or other business units.
  • Create and deliver presentations on community wellness programs to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Represent and promote Alberta Blue Cross at conferences, tradeshows and events.
  • Liaise with existing corporate clients or external partners to implement Alberta Blue Cross wellness solutions in their organizations or communities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Wellness team to complete environmental scanning specific to community wellness initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively across all business units to ensure our wellness initiatives align with corporate-wide projects and strategies.
  • Contribute to improving the efficiencies and processes within the Wellness department, and how Wellness works with other business areas of the organization.


  • A degree in a related field (Health Promotion, Recreation or Social Sciences). Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two years experience in developing and implementing health and wellness strategies/programs in a community setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the health care or primary care sectors, recreation, and government or ministries is an asset.
  • Practical experience in strategy, policy development, leadership, project and program management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and partnership building skills, proven ability to partner effectively with diverse stakeholders and develop positive working relationships.
  • Creative thinker, excellent listener, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and strong presenter.
  • Ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities and deliver effective strategies to generate results.
  • Exceptional problem solving and conflict resolution skills for both individuals and groups.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, analytical and consultation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage and execute multiple project activities within required timelines and expectations.
