Alberta Blue Cross has an immediate opportunity for a Senior IT Controls Analyst to join our team of skilled and enthusiastic individuals who are striving to establish an IT Control Framework. Reporting to the Manager of IT Controls, our ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge developing policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines based on best-practice frameworks such as ITIL or COBIT. This position will not only contribute to the creation of various risk-based IT controls but will also act as a change advocate supporting the successful implementation and adoption of controls.

What you’ll do:

  • Support the implementation and maintenance of a strategic framework for IT Controls, aligned with industry best practices but tailored to Alberta Blue Cross’ needs.
  • Engage in initiatives focused on developing, implementing or maturing key controls, across all areas of IT, in a pragmatic manner.
  • Ensure that controls are developed with appropriate measures (CSFs and KPIs) and reporting mechanisms.
  • Administer the IT Control Framework throughout the lifecycle of each control (ex. exception management, facilitate annual reviews, monitor external influences etc.)
  • Provide controls and best practice expertise to a diverse community of stakeholders across IT and the business.
  • Serve as a liaison between IT Controls and Internal Audit, supporting the collection and preparation of evidence for Internal Audit in accordance with audit objectives.
  • Build and maintain effective internal client relationships by understanding business strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with various levels of management and executive.

What you’ll have:

  • University degree or technical diploma in Computer Science or related discipline. 
  • ITIL Foundations certification and/or COBIT Foundation certification.
  • Minimum 4 years of demonstrated experience with leveraging industry best practices across various IT disciplines.
  • A solid familiarity with working in a structured software development environment is considered an asset.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage several conflicting, priority tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Proven strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with effective verbal and written communication.
