With the guidance of the Team Manager, the Team Lead supports and provides direction to employees on complex administration and contractual issues, ensuring timely and accurate administration of the financial business of Alberta Blue Cross Group Billing.  The successful candidate must possess a strong leadership skill set, exemplary interpersonal skills and a positive, professional attitude. In addition, the role requires strong problem-solving skills, change management aptitude, effective research and analytical approaches and a firm commitment to providing exceptional service to both our internal and external customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as a senior resource for administrators in response to their questions and suggestions and assists with research and the administration of complex administration issues.
  • Investigates and resolves complex administration issues, inquiries or complaints.
  • Monitors turnaround, volumes and prepares reports as required.
  • Ensures continuous communication and knowledge transfer with administrators by sharing any changes to policies, procedures, or contract provisions.
  • Plays an active role in process reviews and other meetings, providing feedback and recommendations as required.
  • Represents Group Billing and presents issues and solutions for internal and external group clients as requested and required.
  • Oversees a book of business, posting payments, researching and reconciling discrepancies on bills.  
  • Oversees Group Billing email accounts and disseminates emails and tasks accordingly.
  • Responsible for scheduling late night shifts and updating staff calendar monthly.
  • Performs special functions, assignments and projects at the request of the Team Manager and Manager.
  • Provides information and works closely with both internal and external auditors under the direction of the Team Manager and Manager.
  • Plays an intricate role in the mentoring, training and coaching within the team and can provide input in performance management.
  • Completion of or willingness to complete financial training courses to ensure a high level of technical competency.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Completion of a Business Diploma or Certificate with a financial or accounting focus is beneficial.
  • Completion or willingness to complete Leadership/Supervisory Certificate program.
  • Requires high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly customer-centric with a demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service both internally and externally.
  • Embraces change and adapts quickly to changing expectations of the team function to align with business requirements.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and complete job tasks with high efficiency to accommodate the needs of the team. 
  • Self-directed with a strong sense of accountability and open to team manager’s feedback.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with strong proficiency in verbal and written communication.  Able to articulate when summarizing issues and resolution to higher level management.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to complete multiple   projects/tasks concurrently. 
  • Requires excellence in the decision making and problem-solving process with above average analytical skills.
  • Requires strong team player skills and positive attitude.
  • Requires strengths around flexibility, independence, priority and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Office.
  • Some overtime maybe required.
