Position Summary

FUNCTION:

Under the direction of the Manager of Medical Underwriting, the Administrator is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Manager and all Medical Underwriters in accordance with the required standards, policies and procedures of the department. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares correspondence for group members, plan administrators and third parties.
  • Responsible for accurate verbal and written communication.
  • Communicates with other Alberta Blue Cross departments to provide and exchange information.
  • Responds to telephone inquiries from members.
  • Communicates with third party vendors and medical staff.
  • Books Paramedical Exams and orders documentation from physicians.
  • Updates various databases.
  • Assists with other administrative/clerical duties as required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of employer sponsored programs.
  • An understanding of medical terminology would be considered an asset and applicants will be given priority.
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Must exhibit professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Must be a strong team player with a cooperative attitude.
